Gimson Nyonya Ponteh is also another popular and savoury dish of the peranakan community. It is a favorite non-spicy peranakan dish that uses salted soybeans and pork to produce a sweet and savoury fusion of delicious measures. This slightly sweet, chili-free dish is a hit with kids. The main ingredient are onion, black mushroom (optional), chicken (at times pork is used instead of chicken, hence it’s called baby pongteh) and fermented bean sauce.
